The last of the Flannel Quilts finished

Mum finished sewing the last of the flannel fabric I had.
As mentioned before, I found I did not like sewing flannel, so cut up all the flannel I had into kits and set 3 lots aside for baby quilts for Mum to sew.
The above quilt is similar to the one I showed a few posts back, then she did a cute teddy one..
..again the same pattern & same corresponding fabrics as the above quilt, then I quilted and bound them.
The backing on this quilt is cute baby feet on white.
Don't forget to join up for my Easter Swap... was hoping to get at least one more lady from the States, so everyone can swap in their own country...cheaper on postage for everyone!

First item in the Seasonal Yarn Club

I received this in the mail last week... LOVED the message on the box....

I tore it open (but forgot to take a picture when I did, so this was only just taken).
Along with the yarn & instructions, there was a letter, a leaf wrist band, homemade shortbread, (they arrived just in time for morning tea), a storage bag and all that lovely colourful packing.
This month we were given the choice of making one of the 2 "leaf" dish cloths.. so I made both, as the yarn she sent made both, plus I have more left over to make a few more!

Can't wait to see what "April's" project will be.

Tea towels made

I am still making items for my "table" at Dungog's Quiltarama (held in June), so this time I made tea towels.... 18 of them!
These are LARGE tea towels, each measuring 24" x 33".

I buy the cotton (waffle like) fabric at Spotlight, when they have a sale, buying a few metres at a time.

Next project is the other quilting UFO, which was a Christmas BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop in 2008.

I'm going to see Mrs Brown!

Getting excited... next Monday night I am going to see the live stage show of Mrs Brown's Boys.

I bought the tickets about 6 months ago and the time is nearly here.

Can't feckin' wait!

...for those who have not seen the English show, you would have no idea of what I am talking about...

I even entered a competition to get free tickets with the following ditty I made up:

Mrs Brown and all her “feckin” sunder

are finally coming down under

Want to see her once, twice, thrice

To  laugh and say “that’s nice”

Didn't win... I had to pay $125 a ticket instead!

BOM finished - 8 years later..plus more passionfruit!

Finally I have finished a Block of the Month (BOM).. it became a UFO (Unfinished Object) as I started receiving the blocks 8 years ago.
I kept up to date the first 9 months, as it was the 9 inside blocks, but on the 10th month I faltered, as it was the 4 corners which had to be appliqued.  So when the next two months arrived I just "filed" them away with month 10 and sort of forgot about it.
...until a couple of weeks ago, I pulled it out and decided to finish it, as it really is a lovely quilt.
The finished quilt measures 84" square.
As it has an Asian feel to it, I used the "Asian Fan" pattern when I quilted it.
I think I will be keeping this one for myself.

On another note.... my passion fruit vine is having a second crop...is this normal?
it produced over one thousand (and NO, I am not exaggerating) passion fruits before Christmas and now it is producing again!

it is covered in flowers....

and fruit....
..and just look at some of the sizes..they are HUGE!!!
Hope they ripen before the cold weather arrives.

Until next post...

For my Grand Daughter

Last week my daughter sent me another panel to "make something"  for my grand daughter.
As they have enough quilts (according to my daughter), I thought I would make this up...
I quilted the whole panel with backing fabric & wadding from my stash, then...

I made a swag.
I rummaged around my buttons for the hearts and then found some ric rac in my ribbon drawer.
With the larger picture I just bound it and she can use it as a table mat or rug for her stuff toys, or anything her heart desires to do with it.

On another note, I have sewn the binding on my large quilt (mentioned in my last 2 blogs) and now I have the hand sewing of the binding..a longgg and slow process for me.

Mum finishes another quilt

Mum has been sewing together the last of my flannel fabric.
I cut 3 quilts that will end up 40" x 48" and this is the first one finished.  They are all the same pattern and the pink fabric will be in all 3.
I used a flower pattern that was similar to the centre square when I quilted it.
One down, two to go for Mum.

I have finished sewing the quilt top on my UFO (I started it 8 years ago as a Block of the Month, made the first 9 blocks on time, then stopped..until last week), plus I got the backing sewn to fit, and made the binding.  Now I have to load it onto the quilting machine and quilt it.  That will take quite some time, as it is 84" square.

Until next post...
