IT'S OURS!

Well the "Sold" sign went over the "For Sale" sign yesterday... it is now official, my boyfriend and I have bought a place together and we will be moving into it about mid September!
The house sits on 16 acres of land.  There is 4 bedrooms, a study, a double car garage with a loft, plus a 5 garage shed (where my boyfriend's tractors, and all his boy's toys will go).

I am "decluttering" my home to sell it and my boyfriend can't beleive the amount of books and magazines I have to move (we don't live together) .. wait till he sees my fabric stash!

Until next post...

Finished BARGAIN Quilt

A few weeks ago, at a garage sale, I picked up a plastic bag that contained fabric.  It had $3 on the bag.  Upon inspection I saw that there seemed to be a quilt had been started and heaps of pieces and templates included.
The lady who was selling it said that there was the makings of a 40" square quilt in the bag that was started but never finished.  I thought to myself that the fabric alone was well worth the asking price of $3, so I bought it and took it home.

An old photo of Mum at the machine
Mum has been staying with me for a few weeks and I showed her the started quilt and she decided she would see if she would be able to finish piecing it.  My Mum is a perfectionist and always has beautiful seams, and she pain stakingly matches the corners, but this proved to be quite a challenge as the pre-cut pieces weren't cut with a lot of care and she had trouble  matching corners. She managed to get every corner but one to meet, but who can see that?
I raided my stash for the outside yellow border and also the matching red binding to make the quilt larger.
I am VERY happy with the finished quilt (and so is Mum).
Until next post...

Finished a scarf

I went to the Quilt Show at Darling Harbour in Sydney a couple of weekends ago and one of the things (I say "one" as I bought heaps lots of things), I bought was a ball of that unual yarn that knits up into a frilly scarf.

I bought the brown tones with a metallic gold edge.  It took me over an hour to knit.

Let's just say, I have knitted one and that is all I am going to make!

Pyjamas Made!

 PHEW!!!
All the pyjamas I had cut are now made up

Here is a close up on 3 pairs!

I am sending some off to my grand daughter & grand son (not the ones in the above picture as they are too small for them!)

The others will be going to be sold at my sale (I hope!)

Until next post...

Great Expectations!

My daughter sent me 2 lots of polar fleece to make my grand children winter pyjamas, so I dug out some of my normal fleecy fabric to team up with what she sent me and spent Saturday afternoon cutting out.... I think I went a bit overboard!

However I do have an excuse... a customer from where I work asked me to make her 4 year old daughter some pyjamas also, so I cut extras out at the same time.

I hate waste, so I used up all of each piece that I was working on, and a couple of the out fits are a mixture of a couple of fabrics... my daughter calls the "odd" outfits "Clown Pyjamas"... ah well, no-one outside the family sees them in the strange clothes!

I know what I will be doing for the rest of this long weekend... sewing pyjamas!

Until next post...

Horsey Quilt Finished

I had so much fabric left over from the Cowgirl quilt I was commissioned to make, I thought I would make another "Horse" quilt.
Well, that isn't exactly the truth, you see, both Mum and I made it... when Mum was here for a week a couple of months ago, I cut out, ironed and arranged, while my Mum was chained sat at the sewing machine and just sewed and sewed.  It is a tad larger than a single bed quilt.
The above photo is the front and the photo below is the back.
The photos don't show how really nice the quilt is.
This quilt is now put away with the others to be brought out for my Quilt & Craft Sale I have in December.

Until next post..

Knitting & Sewing

I have been constantly knitting these dish cloths.  This one is done in a Christmas variegated cotton from Canada.  It is quite different from the overpowering red/green/white Christmas cotton I usually knit up.
This is a close up of a child's quilt I just finished.  I will show a full length of it next post, as the photo I took tonight inside doesn't show the quilt very well, so I will be taking another photo outside tomorrow if it doesn't rain!.

I made 2 batches of lemon curd/butter this afternoon.  The ladies at Bingo keep asking for it for line prizes!

Until next post..
