NOT Happy Jan!

For those who do not understand the heading... it is a take off from a well known TV advertisement here in Australia.

I finished knitting my boyfriend's jumper on Sunday and sewed it together, but when I was near the end of sewing it down the last sleeve (8 rows above the rib) I noticed a mistake I had made in knitting it... I finished sewing and thought "blow it" it will have to stay there as I had finished sewing it all together.... well after 3 restless nights sleep worrying over it, I decided to cut off the sleeve, unravel it to the mistake and start again. Luckily I have extra wool, but I have kept the unravelled wool, as I will need it for the neck band.

I started re-knitting it in my lunch hour today.

Until next post..

Christmas Swags Finished...or are they?

My daughter asked me to make her a Christmas Swag after seeing my earlier post about the one I made myself. So I started cutting out one for her and then decided to make another 2 for Christmas gifts. Here they are... I just finished them a few minutes ago when I sewed the last buttons on.

...BUT my sister saw me making them and mentioned she would like one too....

Until next post...

Nearly finished!

I have been using up most of my spare time knitting my boyfriend's jumper. I have nearly finished the knitting as that is the second sleeve I am just about finished. Then I have to sew it up, pick up the stitches for the neckband (yuk!) and then viola! it is finished!... his birthday is in September, so it will be finished and ready to give.

My boyfriend and I are going to a 90th birthday party on Saturday for a gentleman here in our hometown... we aren't meant to be taking a gift, but one must take one, don't you think?... so what do you give a man on his 90th birthday???.... well he is a tea drinker..."tea leaves, my dear, not those little feed bags that you dangle in your cup"... so I had a wooden open box, filled it with a selection of packets of tea LEAVES and a couple of packets of those chocolate swirled wafer biscuits, add a birthday card and there you have it... a useful gift that is practical and not very expensive... I am not even wrapping it, as he probably would not break open the wrapping... I don't have a photo as the gift is at my boyfriend's place.

Until next post..

Early retirement over!

Exactly 2 weeks ago (30th June), my boyfriend retired from milking cows after 40 years of milking twice a day with only missing about 7 days in all that time. In that 2 weeks he has been "fluffing" around filling in the days by splitting wood, mowing his and my lawn, pruning trees and generally doing odd jobs in between sleeping in front of his TV with the remote control in his hand (like all men!).

Well that all came to a grinding halt today when his brother, who had taken over the dairy, had a heart attack and was rushed to hospital this morning. His brother has had the blockage removed and a stint (is that what it is called?) put in, and will be laid up for a few weeks.

Thankfully my boyfriend hadn't gone away for a break and just stepped back into milking the cows.

Until next post..

More Bears

I was reading Manxgirl's blog and saw a book she had found in a second hand shop. I fell in love with it and searched eBay for it and now I am a proud owner of the same book. I am making myself finish my boyfriend's jumper before I start on one of the bears in it...so cute!

Also, this is a framed cross stitch I have hanging on the wall... I found it at a garage sale and had to buy it... photo is a bit wonky...sorry!.. the other photos I took of it had a flash reflection off the glass.

Until next post..

Bear Quilt Finished

I got my quilt back from the quilter last week and sewed the binding on straight away. This quilt was a kit which supplied the fabric for the top, backing, wadding and binding. The fabric is flannel and the quilt ended up measuring 39" x 55".

I took my Mum home on the weekend after her being here for 5 weeks.... the place is awfully quiet now!

Until next post..
